Shawn Feisst, HHP, BS...
Providing Holistic Treatment Therapies Since 1992

Shawn Feisst has been an holistic health practitioner since 1992. Since that time, she has been in practice with her husband, Martin. Shawn received her training from the International School of Professional Bodywork (IPSB) in San Diego. IPSB has within its staff, instructors from around the world who have been on the cutting edge of holistic and bodywork therapies for more than 30 years. Together, Martin and Shawn opened their practice in Pacific Beach and in 1999 moved to Encinitas where the Holistic Wellness Center is located today.

Shawn was inspired to pursue her holistic health practice because she wanted her field of work to be one in which she could give back to others in a non-traditional health profession. At the same time she looked for a place of lifelong learning where wisdom and experience could be her guides. Throughout her life, Shawn's family has influenced her desire to use natural healing techniques and to freely think outside the box of social tradition.

Through the years as an HHP, Shawn continues to learn about different styles of bodywork from holistic educators. Training includes Tragerwork, Craniosacral therapy, Tui Na from China, Yoga, and Pregnancy Bodywork, Thai and Geriatric Massage. For her clients, she uses a variety of techniques, no two sessions being alike, to relax, stretch, relieve pain and increase mobility.

Before turning the corner toward holistic studies, Shawn was a journalist and public relations executive having earned her BS in journalism from San Diego State University in 1985. Her first year in the field, she won Best Feature Story from the San Diego Press Club. She spent years in the San Diego media promoting many newsworthy events including an environmentally green hotel project, the Del Mar Fair and an international equestrian event. Feature writing was her specialty as she was able to deeply connect with others as she interviewed them for publication.

Shawn enjoys the ocean, reading and writing, most animals and travel. She is a southern California native and currently lives in Encinitas with her husband and daughter.

“The result of my bodywork is a more balanced life on so many levels. My emotions are calmer. I feel greater peace and happiness. My health has improved. I breathe deeper and have more gratitude in my life because I am forced to pause, slow down, and reflect. The work has made me more in tune with my body. I recognize warning signs of overdoing and take measures to prevent muscle spasms or other sickness. To me, bodywork is as important as eating, sleeping and exercise. It is a critical and necessary component of my life.”
